The (NEXSTAR) James Caan, who was nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy, has passed away, per a post on his official Twitter account.
The tweet states, “It is with great sadness that we inform you of Jimmy’s passing on the evening of July 6.” The family requests that you continue to respect their privacy during this trying time. “The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences.”
Although Caan’s role as Santino “Sonny” Corleone in “The Godfather” and its sequel may be what makes him most famous, his lengthy acting career also gave him many other noteworthy roles, including one in the much-loved holiday film “Elf.”
