ILLINOIS – The first Black female justice of the Illinois Supreme Court has taken the oath of office.
On Thursday morning, Justice Lisa Holder White took the oath of office. The longest-serving justice on Illinois’ Supreme Court, Rita Garman, is being replaced by her.
When Lisa Holder White announced her retirement, Garman said, “Lisa Holder White is an outstanding jurist and I know she will be a wonderful Supreme Court justice.”
In Macon County, Holder White was born and raised. She’ll relocate from her Decatur office to one in Springfield.
