Pennsylvania — In the vicinity of the Ben Franklin Parkway on Monday night during Fourth of July celebrations, two police officers were shot. Around 9:45 p.m., a shooting occurred in the 2500 block of Spring Garden Street.
Gunshots were heard at the party, and people were observed scurrying and shouting. Just as the fireworks started, two police officers were struck.

According to police, a bomb squad officer for Montgomery County was shot in the right shoulder. Another traffic patrol officer had a grazing cut to the head. The hospital has released both police officers.
The bullet is seen in the highway patrol officer’s cap in a picture that FOP President John McNesby sent to CBS3 after the victim received a grazing wound.
Additionally, the cop was wearing a prayer card from the revered chaplain Father Steve Wetzel. McNesby remarked, “An angel on his shoulder.”
According to officials, both cops were taken to Jefferson Hospital and given stable conditions. At the hospital right now, there are many police officers present.
Police sources claim that neither the shooter nor shooters were on a high ground or fired from a structure.
According to sources, this may have all started as a result of police pulling up a car, CBS3’s Joe Holden has learned.
The gunfire caused large groups to flee the Welcome America concert and fireworks on the Parkway.
On the Parkway, HughE Dillon detailed the chaos to CBS3.
It was first highly organized. Simply saying “go this way, go this way,” the police. Then they began to accelerate while yelling “run, run, run.” Run, don’t look back,” Dillon said.
Officers responding to the chaos could be heard on police radio asking for the fireworks show to be stopped as pyrotechnics continued to go off.
There are no suspects in police custody.
Joe Sullivan, a former deputy police commissioner, explained to CBS3 the initial phases of the inquiry and the police response.
Philadelphia police said they have Emergency Response Teams on standby around the city to respond to locations where additional resources are needed, so officials were able to respond swiftly to the turmoil after the mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois.
