FLORIDA’S LAUDERDALE LAKES – Months before she reaches a significant milestone, a South Florida church held a special celebration for a longtime parishioner.
People from the Lauderdale Lakes Central Light Grace Chapel gathered on Sunday morning to honor Myrtle Hamith-Mitchell, who will turn 100 later this year.
According to Central Light Grace Chapel’s Bishop Maurice Clarke, “Longevity is blowing under her wings.”
World War II was one of the many challenges that Hamith-Mitchell overcame in her life.
On this significant occasion, her church, which is located in the 4700 block of North State Road 7, felt it appropriate to honor her.
She used to raise money like crazy, and Clarke said, “We’re just grateful to God that we can pause and to recognize her worth, her value, and her purpose.” She has served, and that is what she was meant to do.
Although Hamith-birthday Mitchell’s isn’t until October, church officials decided to celebrate both his birthday and the 27th anniversary of the place of worship.
