The bout between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury that was set to take place on August 6th had been announced back in June.
Fury, a boxer, is unable to compete against Paul at Madison Square Garden as originally scheduled due to a US visa issue. He was given until Wednesday to resolve his problems, but he was unable to do so.
On Instagram, Fury posted a statement in response to the fight’s postponement.
Regarding the difficulties I had getting into the USA, he said, “I’m gutted and disappointed.” “Neither my team nor I could have predicted that this would occur. Being refused entry into a country is obviously a very serious issue that needs to be resolved, so I have left this situation in the hands of my lawyers.
“I’m sure that when we find a solution to this problem, this fight will take place. To be clear, I’ll fight in a nation that is neutral and that both sides can enter. This could happen at any time, anywhere.
Fury elaborated on the initial issues with travel to the US earlier in July. His Electronic System for Travel Authorization was denied when he arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport to attend a press conference.
I was told by homeland security that my ESTA had been rejected and that I was unable to travel to the USA for a reason that I apparently know after being pulled to one side. Tweeted Fury on Instagram. “I can stand here and claim that I’ve done nothing wrong and that I have no idea why I’m prohibited from traveling to the United States.”
Paul responded at the time by asserting that Fury was attempting to “weasel” his way out of the fight. The steps you must take to address your most recent defense have been made clear by my team and partners, Paul tweeted. Accept that you’re a scared little bitch or take them.
Paul has recently stated that he and his team are moving on from the fight and may be considering different opponents.
He tweeted, “Tommy Fury is in hiding. “Tested a Hova and moved on to the next one,” my team was told.
According to recent reports, Hasim Rahman Jr., the son of former boxing champion Hasim Rahman, could face a challenger.
On July 23, Paul and Fury each publicly announced the upcoming fight on social media.
Paul was scheduled to face Fury in his final fight, which was scheduled for December. Fury had to withdraw due to a broken rib, and Tyron Woodley, a former UFC champion, took his place.
This fight was a rematch of their previous encounter. When Paul spectacularly eliminated Woodley in the sixth round, it put a bow on their second encounter.
But ever since that time, and even before, people have pleaded with Paul to take on a “real” boxer. Paul has faced a mix of YouTubers and former MMA fighters up until this point. Fury, an 8-0 up-and-coming fighter, was thought to be that “real” boxer and would have been Paul’s toughest opponent to date in the ring.
Tommy Fury: Who is he?
Young professional boxer Fury has a well-known last name. He is Tyson Fury’s half-brother, the current heavyweight champion. He is also well-known in the UK due to his participation in the reality TV series Love Island, where contestants must form relationships in order to stay in the competition. The UK loves the show a lot.
The person Jake Paul.
You’re probably familiar with Paul, the popular social media user who first found success on Vine before expanding to all available platforms. After competing on the undercard of his brother Logan Paul’s famous boxing match with UK YouTuber KSI, he recently made the switch to boxing. He displayed boxing talent and has been engaged in combat ever since.
Paul has also made the transition to promotion, co-promoting one of the biggest female boxing matches of all time between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Paul posted a pretty self-aware (and humorous) TikTok about his upcoming fight with Fury, showing that he seems to understand how the public perceives his boxing career.
