Going on a Stranger Things binge in preparation for the season 4’s record-breaking release? It takes us back to the era of big hair, chunky Reebok shoes, and, according to Reddit, an air conditioner that time-traveled from the 1990s in the Netflix series.
For those who are unaware, this show is set in the middle of the 1980s, and the AC in the background of this scene is from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, according to a mid-June post on the subreddit for HVAC technicians.
The incident in question occurs in the season’s sixth episode. Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), the early character who hasn’t yet shown Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) how honorable he is, gets into a fight with Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton), Nancy’s new friend.
But evidently, that isn’t what makes this scene so antagonistic. Just discernible in the background is the historically incorrect AC unit.
The first volume of Stranger Things’ fourth season’s episodes debuted at the end of May, followed by the second at the start of July. When Vol. 1 was watched for 7.2 billion minutes between May 30 and June 5, it broke the Nielsen streaming record for the most watched program in a single week.
