According to a recent report, Elon Musk decided he could not verify the number of fake accounts on the social media platform, casting serious doubt on his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.
According to The Washington Post, which relied on unnamed sources, Elon Musk had stopped “engaging in certain discussions” regarding the transaction.
Without providing any supporting data, the founder of Tesla has repeatedly asserted that Twitter is underestimating the number of bots using its platform.
Prior to the proposed $44 billion acquisition of the social media platform, he claimed in June that the company was attempting to “resist and thwart” his information rights.
In response, Twitter gave Mr. Musk access to a “firehose” of sensitive business information.
The Post also claimed that Mr. Musk had lost contact with a significant investor in the deal.
The Independent contacted Mr. Musk and Twitter for a response, but neither responded right away.
