However, despite their best efforts, Republican phones and email inboxes continue to be inundated with dishonest solicitations every day. Even 18 months after leaving office, Trump continues to be the top attraction for GOP contributors, especially those who make modest donations. While he continues to amass wealth, he must contend with legions of unaffiliated fundraisers who imitate or copy Trump’s appeals and occasionally intimidate or threaten Republicans in order to raise money.
Trump himself has a history of making deceptive fundraising appeals, too. His team frequently sends 12 or more fundraising appeals per day, frequently with dubious claims like “donations will be matched 700%.”
