When Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court and abortion regulation was given back to the states, celebrities pretty much went insane. Even the anti-cyberbullying activist Monica Lewinsky started using obscene language on Twitter.
Christian Toto, however, in Hollywood Samantha Bee, a noted late-night TBS “comedian,” went a step further. To ensure that Justice Alito could never again eat in peace, she urged the American people to “raise hell” and cause a commotion for the justices.
After a man attempted to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh, no one in the liberal media questioned whether this might incite violence. TBS was completely okay with this campaign because they worry that no one will interrupt their less well-known bosses’ restaurant meal.
The same is true of advertisers like Hyundai, whose advertisement aired immediately following my rant.
It is insane that a Supreme Court that doesn’t reflect the majority of Americans will increase the death and suffering of women, Bee yelled. (The death toll excludes infants.) Then came the call to action, which inspired the TBS promo and the #RaiseHell Twitter campaign.
BEE: I can’t even begin to express how painful it is to be in this position right now, where the Supreme Court has the authority to overturn 50 years of constitutional precedent. Do not be misled; the story does not end here. Conservatives won’t stop until all of our rights have been taken. Unless we take it back, everything we have fought for will be lost. Not just the November election is at stake. It involves doing everything in our power to defend and assist vulnerable people in obtaining abortions outside of their state. And since Republicans have made our lives miserable, it’s time to pay them back by raising hell in our cities, in Washington, and in every restaurant Justice Alito eats at for the rest of his life.
It’s very tempting to tell Bee to just return to Canada and cause trouble there. (She was naturalized in 2014 and now holds two citizenships.) It’s also very tempting to suggest that Bee be made the target of harassment at restaurants to see how she reacts.
Leftists enjoy encouraging their supporters to ruin conservatives’ meals at restaurants, as they did to Trump administration officials and Sen. Mitch McConnell while Trump was in office. Many recall how Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the then-press secretary, was asked to leave a Charlottesville restaurant. But shouldn’t someone in the media urge restraint after the Kavanaugh scare?
Given that they can’t stop talking about January 6, it’s strange that they don’t appear to be afraid of the possibility that Trump supporters might return the favor.
Toto recalled that a year prior, he had inquired about the cable network’s opinion of Bee’s irrational attack on Governor Ron DeSantis, in which she called him a racist and pleaded with him to “look into my eyes and eat shit.”
TBS has not responded.
Toto inquired about the TBS press office’s response to Bee’s most recent remarks once more. Her outburst came hours before pro-choice protests actually turned violent. Once more, no reply.
Ironic, given that Bee compelled TBS brass to issue an apology for another comedian making fun of Hillary Clinton’s laugh.
