Disgraced The Los Angeles County District attorney, George Gascon, has charged a convicted felon with assaulting Olympian Kim Glass.
Following the release of numerous criminals, lenient sentencing, and his soft-on-crime policies, Gascon is finally doing the right thing by locking up criminals.
In 2018 and 2019, Semeon Tesfamariam was convicted of felony assault. He was on parole following a state prison sentence, and he recently attacked Glass. On Tuesday, Gascon said:
“This was a vicious, unprovoked assault… Mr. Tesfamariam has a disturbing history of attacking seemingly random individuals with lethal weapons. His behavior seems to have worsened over time.”
Tesfamariam is accused of throwing a 10-inch metal bolt at Glass’ face while she was walking near a homeless encampment in Downtown Los Angeles, as reported by Jennifer Oliver O’Connell of RedState.
Here is how Glass described the tragic event:
“As I was saying goodbye to a friend outside as I left lunch, this homeless man ran up. He had something in his hand, was standing on the side of the car in the street, and he just looked at me with pretty hostile eyes. As I was about to tell my friend that I thought something was wrong with him, a large metal pipe hit me. It happened so quickly that he threw it from the street.”
The bystanders who witnessed the assault assisted in detaining the criminal until the police arrived. He is currently being held without bail. On August 17, he will be heard; if convicted, he faces up to 11 years in prison.
Gascon appears to have altered his strategy, but we should not be deceived. He is the same pro-crime district attorney, and the only reason he is incarcerating criminals is because he may face a recall election, in which case he will lose. Former District Attorney of San Francisco Chesa Boudin was recalled last month, and Gascon is likely to follow suit.
Los Angeles County announced over the weekend how they will confirm that at least 566,857 of the 715,833 signatures we submitted are “verified.” The office of the Registrar has until August 17 to finish its review and verification.

The homeless crisis, particularly in Downtown Los Angeles, has worsened as a result of Mayor Eric Garcetti, Governor Gavin Newsom, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ ineffectiveness and lack of leadership.
As much as the rescue missions help, career politicians exacerbate the problem by making it too easy to be homeless and by blocking walkways with encampments while people walk the streets and observe the open-air drug market. Instead of allowing them to suffer on the streets, they should create more rehabilitation centers, employ mental health professionals to assist those in need, remove them from the streets, and return the public spaces to the residents.
In the November midterm elections, Los Angeles County residents will vote on several important races, including LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, the Gascon recall, and a new measure passed by the Board of Supervisors that will allow them to remove the Sheriff if voters approve the measure. Residents of the City of Los Angeles will also have the opportunity to vote for mayor, and it is important to note that Rick Caruso is in favor of recalling Gascon while Karen Bass is opposed to it.
Hopeful Los Angeles voters will cast ballots to remove career politicians from office and restore sanity to the city.
