Joshua Sacino was fired by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for breaching his obligations and engaging in behaviour unbecoming of a deputy. After an investigation, it was discovered that Sacino had been online for four hours one day while parked in his police car.
Sacino explained to a supervisor that he had stopped one automobile and issued the driver with a warning when requested to record his activity.
Later, after choosing a random automobile at a Walmart, he reported that the driver was “engaged in narcotics activity.” Supervisors contacted Sacino after watching his bodycam video, at which point he admitted to lying. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of Pinellas County said, “It’s a major thing. “Deputy Sacino did this for self-serving purposes, to hide his inactivity and ineptitude, with no concern of the ramifications this report could have had for the implicated citizen or for any citizen using that vehicle in the future,” the report states.
