As a leader in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics, Stantec has been named one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens of 2022 by Corporate Knights. Stantec is a global leader in sustainable design and engineering. This is Stantec’s thirteenth appearance on the Best 50 Corporate Citizens list.
According to Gord Johnston, President and CEO, “Our continued placement as one of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens is affirmation that our long-standing commitment to advancing ESG is making a real impact towards a more sustainable future.” “It’s only morally right to advance sustainability, and our teams are having a positive impact on our business as well as our clients’ projects here in Canada and around the world.”
The Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Companies rankings, which similarly honor sustainable business practices based on ESG indicators, placed Stantec at the top of the world’s top 1% for sustainable performance and at the top of its peer group earlier this year.
Recent significant ESG accomplishments of the company include:
Revenue Alignment with UN SDGs – The company recently revealed that 53 percent of its gross revenue, up from 49 percent in 2020 and 45 percent in 2019, is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Stantec is leading the way in sustainability-driven finance by amending and extending its syndicated senior credit facility through a Sustainability-Linked Loan. By doing so, it is the first company in the world to tie its financing plan to its Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index score. Additionally, Stantec made the first firm-wide commitment in Canada to reinvest savings in local areas to promote social justice and climate action.
Globally Recognized Leadership – Numerous top independent organizations have also commended the Company for its ESG development. Forbes recognized Stantec as one of the Top Female-Friendly Companies in the World and one of the Best Employers for Diversity in the United States. The company has been recognized on the American Indian Science and Engineer Society’s Top 50 Employers for Indigenous STEM Professionals and the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for a number of years.
